Gustavo Ariel Schwartz es físico y escritor de ensayos y ficciones que exploran las relaciones entre el arte, la ciencia, la literatura y las humanidades. Luego de recibir su doctorado en física de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (Argentina) en 2001, pasó dos años como investigador postdoctoral en la Chalmers University of Tecnology en Goteborg (Suecia). Luego se trasladó a San Sebastián (España) para investigar en el Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC). En 2005 ganó su primer premio literario con el relato La filtración. Desde 2008 es Científico Titular del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas y desarrolla su actividad investigadora en el Centro de Física de Materiales de San Sebastián. Actualmente compagina su investigación científica con su rol como fundador y director del Programa Mestizajes del DIPC, cuyo propósito es explorar y transitar las fronteras entre el arte, la ciencia, la literatura y las humanidades. En el marco de este programa organizó cuatro Congresos Internacionales sobre Literatura y Ciencia (2011, 2014, 2017, 2021) y puso en marcha el Programa de Escritores en Residencia en 2012. Es coautor, junto con Luisa Etxenike, de la obra de teatro La entrevista, que se estrenó en San Sebastián en 2013. En 2016 coordinó el proyecto Realidad conexa, una colección de ocho cápsulas audiovisuales sobre la intuición y la razón. También coeditó la obra colectiva #Nodos, en la que cerca de noventa científicos, escritores, artistas y académicos de todo el mundo exploran las posibilidades del conocimiento transdisciplinar. La edición en español se publicó en 2017 y la versión en inglés (Intellect Books) en 2018. En 2019 publicó Creativium, un proyecto transdisciplinar que analiza y retrata la creatividad científica en clave artístico-literaria. Ha publicado más de sesenta artículos científicos y la colección de cuentos El otro lado. Mantiene el blog Arte, Literatura y Ciencia.
Gustavo Ariel Schwartz is a physicist and writer of essays and fictions exploring the relationships among art, science, literature and the humanities. After receiving his PhD in Physics from the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 2001, he spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chalmers University of Technology in Goteborg (Sweden). Then he moved to San Sebastián (Spain) to research at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC). In 2005, he won his first literary prize with the short story The Leak. Since 2008, he has been a scientist at the National Spanish Research Council and developed his research activity at the Material Physics Center in San Sebastián. He combines his scientific research with his role as the founder and director of the Mestizajes Program at the DIPC, whose purpose is to explore and cross the borders among art, science, literature, and the humanities. Within the framework of this program, he organized four International Conferences on Literature and Science (2011, 2014, 2017, 2021) and launched the Writers in Residence Program in 2012. He has co-authored, with Luisa Etxenike, the theatre play The Interview, which premiered in San Sebastián in 2013. In 2016, he coordinated the project Connected Reality, a collection of eight audiovisual capsules about intuition and reason. He also co-edited the collective work #Nodes, in which nearly ninety scientists, writers, artists and scholars from all over the world explore the possibilities of transdisciplinary knowledge. The Spanish edition was published in 2017, and the English version (Intellect Books, UK) in 2018. In 2019, he published Creativium, a transdisciplinary project that analyses and portrays scientific creativity in artistic-literary key. He has published more than sixty scientific articles and the short-story collection The Other Side. He maintains the blog Arte, Literatura y Ciencia.
